Are you passionate about building a more inclusive society?  Information Systems Services is seeking to appoint someone to join the Digital Accessibility team, playing a key role in supporting our staff to create accessible digital resources.

You will join a small team of digital accessibility assistants, focusing in particular on supporting teaching staff to manage captions, transcripts and other adjustments as we implement a new process providing enhanced support for students with severe hearing and visual impairments.

The team also provides training to academic departments, maintains guidance and support materials, and provides advice on a range of accessibility-related issues, so there will be plenty of opportunity for personal development. As a team we are committed to the development of our people and you will be encouraged to learn new skills and technologies.

You should ideally have experience of supporting staff and students, and some understanding of the difficulties facing disabled people using digital materials.

Lancaster University offers 25 days annual leave plus additional University closure days at Christmas and Easter, opportunities for continuing professional development, a flexible benefits package and a package of family-friendly work-life balance policies.

The role is offered as a fixed term contract until March 2023 and is based in the Information Systems Services Division at Lancaster’s Bailrigg campus. The Digital Accessibility Assistant is a campus-based role but you can currently benefit from Lancaster’s agile working policy.

The post is offered on a full-time basis but the role could be considered as part time or a job share for suitable candidates.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups. You must have the right to work in the UK as unfortunately at the present time we are not able to support visa applications for these posts.

We currently aim to interview on Wed 26 July 2023. Informal enquiries can be made to Alison Sharman, [email protected]
