General context of the project

INTERSOS is a humanitarian organization in the frontline of emergencies, working all over the world to bring independent, impartial and neutral humanitarian aid to people, families, and communities whose lives are threatened by conflict, extreme poverty, natural or manmade disasters. It does so by providing assistance and protection during humanitarian emergencies, according to its operational and resource capacities. Our interventions are based upon the values of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equal rights and opportunities for all people, and respect for diversity and coexistence.

In this context, private funding plays a critical role in increasing the capacity of the organization to implement time-effective, autonomous, and relevant emergency intervention, while contributing to the general financial sustainability.

General purpose of the position

Contribute to planning, designing, and implementing the digital fundraising strategy to raise awareness and achieve fundraising objectives (acquisition, loyalty, and reactivation) through digital technologies. Support the management of a structured retention plan through direct mailing and digital communications dedicated to our donor base. Focus on increasing the quality of fundraising appeals content.

Main responsibilities and tasks

Digital Content & Management

  • Design and elaborate written and visual content (including graphic editing) to be advertised through different digital channels (eg. Social Media, Google SEA) taking into account the different donor targets
  • Design and implement the advertising strategy of all channels managed by the individual donors’ team with specific plans dedicated to specific activities (eg. Solidarity Gifts)
  • Manage the relationships with digital advertising suppliers (agencies and consultants)
  • Design and elaborate written and visual content for DEM, warm and cold, and newsletters
  • Ensure the management and updating of the INTERSOS website “support us” section
  • Monitor all digital activities at the level of strategic KPIs, constantly adapting and correcting strategies to pursue the established economic objectives and analyzing the results of digital advertising campaigns

Mailing

  • Contribute to planning, managing, monitoring, and analyzing a direct mailing plan dedicated to our donor base
  • Design and produce written content for DM products
  • Using our CRM, define different targets to segment the list of donors to send tailored fundraising appeals and campaigns and monitor the results and related KPIs
  • Support managing relationships with external partners and suppliers (printers, creative agencies, call centers, consultants) to maximize the impact and performances of the activities carried out

Strategy & Reporting

  • Contribute to defining and managing the “donor journey plan” to increase our donor base loyalty and donations amount
  • In close collaboration with Communication colleagues, identify a series of thematic focuses and ensure their correct use in fundraising activities implemented during the year
  • Drafting of a monthly report on the performances of the managed channels with particular regard to the monitoring of ROI and the implementation of planned activities
  • Regularly monitors new trends in digital technologies, identifying and proposing the most interesting tools to test and/or to adopt
  • Advises on the general annual planning of fundraising activities

Required profile and experience

Education

  • Bachelor / Master Degree (Laurea specialistica o vecchio ordinamento) – preferable
  • Master / Certification in Fundraising or Digital Marketing – preferable

Professional Experience

Previous experience with organisations or agencies working in digital fundraising with the no-profit sector – preferable.

Professional Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of Social Media Marketing (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube and Linkedin), Google Analytics, Google Ads, DEM, SEO / SEM and marketing automation platforms
  • Good knowledge of graphic editing tools (eg. Canva, Photoshop)
  • Proficient use of the Office Suite Programmes, particularly Excel
  • Use of CRM
  • Basic notions of website backend management, particularly through WordPress
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills acquired through work experience or specific training

Languages

  • Fluent in Italian and English
