Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic individual to become our Digital Education Transformation Fellow. You will join our central UG Science Team to enhance the learning experience and our digital education provision. This is an opportunity to work closely with a variety of academic staff and students across disciplines within the Faculty of Medicine. The post will focus on the development of student research and science skills such as critical analysis, analytics and teamwork and will support the student learning journey and experience, including academic and social networking opportunities.

Candidates with experience of educational pedagogy, student engagement activities and digital education tools should apply.

Duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for the supporting and maintaining the quality of our different BSc pathways with a focus on innovative use of digital materials and support tools, seeking to enhance and optimise teaching pedagogy where possible. This will require regular engagement with the respective pathways and providing appropriate support and training to staff as required. Similarly, you will work with our student body in the provision of learning materials, opportunities, and social networking events. You will deliver workshops, seminar and learning experiences both in person and virtually. You will get the opportunity to deliver and develop pre-course learning materials for students joining the course from other institutions including UK and overseas medical schools. You will seek to optimise student experience and learning through the year in response to student and staff feedback.

You will be joining a dynamic and supportive team with pedagogical, digital and assessment experience.

Essential requirements

  • Educated to degree-level in a STEMM subject;
  • Experience of web-based technologies in the delivery of teaching and learning resources
  • Experience of supporting a blended learning curriculum (virtual tutorials, self-directed learning, flipped classroom, etc)
  •  Knowledge and experience of VLE or LMS administrations, maintenance and user management
  • Understanding of teaching & learning processes and online pedagogy
  • Experience of producing educational material and resources to a high standard

The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023.  Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite.  The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
