Director Automotive Sales CanadaLocation:BRANTFORD, CanadaJob Category:SalesEssential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTo enable the Gates Canada, Brantford Operations meet its business plan objectives through the effective management of Regional teams and executing commercial strategies. Responsible for communication with field management at key distribution and the management of the business planning process with top accounts. To obtain growth and consistently increasing market share within the assigned Region are essential duties. Develop and recruit top talent and build a high performing team of sales professionals.Scope of RoleReports to the General Manager, Canada.Team Management:

  • Responsible for the management of an offsite multi Provincial Sales team and the coordination of efforts of sales personnel toward the accomplishment of objectives while improving the organization’s competitive position.
  • Leads strategic and tactical planning, goal setting, sales budgets, market analysis, forecasting, and expense allocation for the Regional Sales Team.
  • Develops strategic plan for the Region and holds sales associates accountable for achieving results by tracking activities and business wins and losses in CRM
  • Responsible for the review and approval of the monthly Sales Commission sales incentive plan
  • Serve as a leader on the Brantford Management Team Committee.

Client Relationships:

  • Maintains and develops professional relationships with senior customers and establishes Gates as a preferred supplier with target accounts. (i.e. NAPA, ACDelco, UNI-Select)
  • Maintains the Corporate image with business peers, employees and customers.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Major contributor to the Canada commercial strategic plan to ensure alignment with the corporate strategy.
  • Promote continuous improvement concepts throughout the organization.

Market Development and Financial Responsibility:

  • Establishes sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products in the Automotive replacement, NAPA and Specialty Markets in Canada.
  • Direct responsibility for Sales results within the Automotive replacement market in Canada
  • Develops and manages sales volume and profitability while conforming to budgetary requirements.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and some recognized formal University or Association marketing training.
  • 10 Years of Progressive Sales/Business experience.
  • Industry experience is an asset but not a requirement.

  • Business acumen, sound judgment and common sense are essential.
  • Sets an example in style and conduct to management and employees.
  • Strong strategic thinker – promptness, reliability and integrity are essential together with superior administrative / organizational skills.

Physical DemandsWhile performing the required duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit; use hands to reach, handle, manipulate and feel objects, tools and controls. The employee will need to listen and talk to other employees. Specific vision capabilities required as the employee is to work in front of a computer on a day to day basis. Ability to travel via car, plane etc. possibly for several hours at a time.Working EnvironmentThe noise level is moderate, lighting is mild and the space is comfortable. Dust levels are nonexistent. The temperature is always consistent in keeping the employees comfortable.OtherTravel schedule is approximately 60% within Canada and the US with the majority being overnight.Work schedule flexibility is required to meet the demands of the marketplace and target account acquisition.
