As Director of EMEA Education you will be responsible to work with the GEO president and country managing directors to identify unique training needs and implement those strategies within the context of business needs and viability. You will manage the resources both physical and human that are needed to deploy and maintain the trainings including those delivered in-person, remote instructor led and asynchronous. You will work within the global education organization ensuring global standards are achieved and ensuring shared best practices are implemented. This position will be responsible for forecasting and revenue exceeding 30 million dollars for the EMEA education and training. The ideal candidate will have experience driving process enhancements in a matrixed global organization where success had been demonstrated on achieving global synergy while meeting regional needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the training program strategy, implementation, and monitoring of training program quality in EMEA

  • Design and develop innovative training programs through collaboration with regional managing directors

  • Manage customer satisfaction with a track record of strong customer relationships and focus on customer needs.

  • Responsible for the learning outcomes for over 3000+ students. Collaborating with multiple teams to, to define, execute, and evaluate internal and external training to prepare the EMEA market for the use of Varian’s products.

  • Manage training for all of Varian’s EMEA education centers and support all internal training of clinical and technical staff

  • Leverage emerging technologies to execute effective and innovative learning strategies

  • Ensure that curriculum standards and quality are optimal

  • Work with Key Opinion Leaders to design and deliver unique clinical training via clinical partnerships to address development of trained professionals, upskilling, and master level training including not only Varian products but the best practices in medically caring for patients.

  • Ensure that the training strategies are aligned with global standards but uniquely developed for this region and the sub regions within it including cultural diversity and language needs.

  • Execute quickly and effectively.

  • Build procedural competency, and proactively organize and communicate feedback to Varian to inform our product enhancement and continuous improvement team of our training programs.

  • Align cross-functionally with regional sales, service and applications leaders to ensure we are producing and communicating the most relevant information in our educational programs.

  • Facilitate, drive meetings and discussions to deliver productive outcomes to diverse audiences.

  • Responsible for managing the revenue, cost and margins for the EMEA education organization including forecasting and business development.

  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of EMEA training annual budgets – operational, staffing and capital.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for cross-functional team through the disciplined use of measurements, accountability, analysis and discussion of process alternatives to arrive at best practices.

  • Support the sales and service organization in tenders and orders with specific training needs.

  • Ensure Global Education and Training policies and procedures align with corporate vision.

  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel ensuring efficient operation of the function.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 15 years related experience and 7+ years education leadership experience

  • Previous leadership experience with proven ability, competence, and confidence to lead people and cross functional teams.

  • Proven ability to understand customers needs, develop business cases and execute to plan.

  • Prior experience in financial analysis, budgets and operational analysis, required.

  • Must have prior experience managing P&L budget of 20+ million

  • Ability to influence strategies and goals across the organization.

  • Extensive experience with SAP, Salesforce and Learning Management System or equivalent ERP software desired.

  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience working with executive leadership

  • Ability to work cross functionally across multiple disciplines within the company

  • Ability to adapt quickly to manage the needs of the business, take risks and drive results

  • Execute quickly and in a timely fashion

  • Strong business and financial acumen

  • Strong ability to understand cultural diversity and lead accordingly

  • Proficient in building a culture of ongoing continuous improvement.

  • Comfortable working in a matrixed environment

  • Performs all required management responsibilities including but not limited to: implementing the company’s policies, programs, and guidelines; ensuring employee productivity and growth; managing resources; knowing Varian’s business; and maintaining functional, technical, and external market awareness necessary for managing immediate organization.
