Discover how you can make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities around the world.Job Description:About the roleThe Director, Global Reporting is a critical role in the Corporate Global Accounting team managing the production of general ledger driven deliverables in support of consolidated segmented reporting, external financial and regulatory reporting, unconsolidated financial statements and information to meet tax and auditors’ requirements. As a general ledger subject matter expert, the Director will also participate in ad-hoc transactions/projects, including various M&A activities, tax restructuring, capital events, etc. across the organization to provide operational accounting guidance in support of these events.What you’ll be doingDrive both the monthly and quarterly close process and deliverables for internal and external reportingLead and engage in process improvement initiatives for consolidated and unconsolidated reporting with appropriate controlsAdvise and assist business groups and function areas on the operational accounting for complex business transactions in support of BG partners and functional teams, including M&A, Tax restructuring, Capital issuances, Resegmentation, etc.Manage legal entity reporting deliverables to support regulatory reporting, business initiatives, tax filings and compliances, solo capital, board meetings for individual companiesManage the reconciliation between consolidated vs unconsolidated financialsPartner with Corporate Secretary, Regulatory Reporting, Legal and Business Groups to built and oversee the Global Entity Management framework and reportingWhat you’ll need to succeedProfessional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)10+ years of relevant work experience in large matrix organizations, with strong IFRS knowledgeExperience in using SAP is an assetExperience in using Longview is an assetStrong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to accuracy and detail, while maintaining perspectives on the “big picture” in a complex environmentProven ability to lead a large team, with a focus on staff development and coaching junior team membersAbility to understand, resolve and communicate complex accounting issues to a wide audience across BG/Corporate teamsAbility to manage changing priorities with excellent organizational skills in a fast-paced environmentAbility to influence without authority and build effectively partnerships with BG finance teams and Corporate functionsAbility to work independently and with minimal supervisionThe Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
