NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) is a public body working across NHSScotland providing national strategic support services and expert advice to Scotland’s health and care sector.By collaborating with NHS boards, local authorities, and other partners, NSS helps to align regional activities with national strategies. Additionally, NSS offers shared services to support financial sustainability and allow reinvestment of resources for essential services.NSS offers a wide range of services, including the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service, national digital systems and procurement, along with commissioning of National Clinical services such as screening and transplant services, that underpin the effective operation of NHSScotland and impact on clinical care in a range of settingsThe post:As a member of the Executive Management Team, reporting to the NSS Chief Executive, this role leads, develops and implements the strategic direction for NSS nursing, midwifery and allied health professions services. It also has an executive leadership portfolio across NSS covering quality improvement, whistleblowing and healthcare-associated infection, along with senior responsible officer leadership for NSS portfolio programme work. This requires close and effective working relationships with leaders across NHSScotland, the Scottish Government (SG), the academic sector and other partner organisations to maintain NSS’s clinical leadership in this field along with clinical engagement with the nursing profession across NHSScotland.This post provides strong and effective leadership, expert advice and assurance on all nursing and midwifery matters and related governance issues for AHP’s to the NSS Board, stakeholders, customers and staff balancing governance activities with business performance across NSS. The role also provides this professional governance related leadership to Public Health Scotland, which is subject to review currently.Additionally, the role provides the strategic NSS liaison with the Chief Nursing Officer for NHSScotland, supporting SG in achieving NHSScotland’s healthcare goals through initiatives like the Nursing and Midwifery task force and Infection Prevention and Control Policy.The candidate:You should be educated to Masters level in a relevant subject or significant equivalent demonstrable experience with evidence of continuing professional development.It is essential that you have a detailed and wide-ranging understanding of nursing best practice and policy with senior management level experience in a nursing role within the NHS, preferably within a range of settings. You should also have evidence of delivering a broad work portfolio at a national level and have the ability to develop effective stakeholder relationships.You will be required to have high developed influencing, negotiation and facilitation skills, with excellent oral, written and presentational communication skills. In addition, you should have the ability to simplify and communicate complex information at all levels within the NHS in Scotland.Candidates must have current Nursing and Midwifery Council registrationLocation and working pattern:Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow.We currently operate a hybrid working model, with a Monday to Friday working pattern over 37 hours per week.It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.Benefits:Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
