The appointment also carries an additional stipend during the Director of Tyndall Centre term.With a drive and ambition that matches the most ambitious goals of the UN Paris Agreement, the Tyndall Centre seeks an inspiring, passionate and dedicated leader, whether rising star or established, to direct the UK’s Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research.The Tyndall Centre brings together researchers from the social, natural and physical sciences, including engineering, economics, and international development, to develop sustainable responses to climate change. It was one of the first institutes in the world to demonstrate the need for interdisciplinary approaches for research to be truly useful for policy and practice. With a core of around 100 active members ranging from PhD researchers to Professors, the Centre represents a substantial body of the UK’s interdisciplinary climate change expertise.The Tyndall Centre has significantly advanced the analysis of emissions reductions from major energy sectors and economies, the understanding of climate risks and impacts, UK and international adaptation options, the public perceptions of climate change, and the governance of climate negotiations and policymaking.UEA is the Headquarters of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. Founded in 2000, the Centre is an integrated partnership between the UEA and the Universities of Cardiff, Manchester, Newcastle and Southampton, as well as Fudan University in China. It has an international reputation for delivering academically excellent interdisciplinary research in support of theory and practice. All the core partners were highly rated in the UK’s last Research Excellence Framework.You will lead a network of partner universities who thrive on working together on world leading interdisciplinary research and stakeholder engagement to achieve policy impacts. We welcome applications from researchers in climate, energy, governance, behaviour, water or other environmental and societal themes related to climate change in line with our broad interdisciplinary and solutions-focused outlook.The Director of Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research position is available from 1 October 2024 for five years on a full-time basis.
