As the Director of Planning, you will be responsible for key functions of Merchandise planning, collaborating with Demand Planning, in-season open to buy management and inventory flow. In this role, you will be responsible for developing budgets, determine allocation & replenishment strategies to ensure optimal balance of inventory to achieve sales, margin & turnover targets. You will partner closely with leaders of Merchandising, Logistics, and Finance to develop strategy, align resources, manage risk & maximize opportunities to grow the business.   • Develop & drive innovative, results oriented strategies to support business plan & goals to drive sales, margin, productivity while managing inventory targets
  • Develop pre-season sales, margin, inventory using go forward strategy & merchandise vision
  • Direct short term & long-term financial strategies & inventory levels
  • Collaborate with merchandising & other cross functional teals to support strategic seasonal merchandise reviews (assortment planning tactics, obsolescence aged inventory)
  • Take accountability for outcomes, demonstrate flexibility & resilience in response to constraints
  • Develop & direct implementation of new tools, processes, and best practices to improve business performance
  • Leading & providing guidance to team and monitor inventory results as it relates to assortment, promotions, in-stocks and ensure driving the business results
  • Apply knowledge of business trends, new product trends, promotional calendar, calendar shifts, cost structure into pre-season, in-season plans.
  • Run clearance & obsolete inventory by proactively recognizing future challenges & recommending exit markdown strategies while forecasting impact to margin
  • End to end ownership of inventory from vendor to DC for core and vendor to stores for Newness product
  • Provide inbound forecasts to logistics to avoid fluctuations & ensure accurate strategy is in place to deliver results
  • Develop and manage standardized operational planning, flow and work processes
  • Collaborate on consensus process for Demand Planning to ensure appropriate purchasing strategy and inventory balance.
  • Direct and challenge team in managing opportunities and risks through the OTB/monthly forecast process
  • Partner with Merchandising, Inventory Directors, and Distribution Manager to strategize, develop, and manage financial plans that support key brand strategies and initiatives
  • Lead development of seasonal strategy on Key Initiatives & Newness
  • Support and communicate inventory team needs to Executive team and cross functional teams
  • Lead and develop team to meet deliverables including Newness order placement, OTB management, Newness allocation to stores, and process management
  • Partner Reporting and Systems to define and standardize reporting
  • Communicate with manager of System development to build tools to support inventory initiatives
  • Continue to develop better process management for team
  • Proficient on the on inventory analysis, planning assortment optimization, supply chain, allocation & planning system experience, to support team

#fschiringWHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • 10+ years retail planning and/or buying experience (OTB management, forecasting, allocation/distribution)
  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent technical skills – MS Office (Excel, Word)
  • Strong numbers proficiency; able to compile complex statistical reports
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle multiple priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong team player, with the ability to be flexible
