Under the general direction of the Vice Dean and with a dual reporting line to the Chief Administrative Officer, the incumbent coordinates the administration of all OISE student financial services in close cooperation with academic departments. With managerial responsibility for a team of administrative staff, responsibilities include managing integrated, effective, and accountable student financial services, encompassing student funding for funded students, needs-based and merit-based financial aid, and internal awards, with the aim of maximizing OISE’s operating budget and endowment funds. The Director also acts as the divisional liaison for CUPE 3902-1, and CUPE 3902 Unit-7 collective agreements and will provide expert advice to OISE colleagues on the administration of said collective agreements. Additionally, the Director oversees the development of institutional research and analysis to inform decision-making and maximize the impacts of institutional financial support on student success.Essential Qualifications:EDUCATION:Master’s degree with statistical and quantitative training, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA designation or courses towards completion of CPA is strongly preferred.EXPERIENCE:Minimum of five (5) years of financial experience in a university setting, administering and interpreting complex academic and financial policies and procedures. Direct experience working with students. Experience administering student funding, university financial aid, awards and bursaries. Demonstrated experience liaising with senior administrators, responding to and handling matters of a complex and sensitive nature. Experience working with information technology systems and demonstrated experience in improving data reporting for informed decisions, and increasing the operational efficiency and effectiveness of processes and systems with technology. Experience in statistical analysis and demographic analysis.SKILLS:Proven managerial skills, including managing in a unionized environment. Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated record of success in researching, analyzing, making recommendations, providing risk assessments and options. Strong financial processes, reconciliation and reporting skills. Strong computer skills with experience in MS Office, knowledge of University’s SAP based Administrative Management Systems (AMS) and related applications (FIS, HRIS) or equivalent. Strong knowledge and proficiency with a student information system (e.g. ROSI). Experience with statistical analysis software and predictive modelling. Experience with Tableau, Power BI or similar data visualization software. Aptitude in systems thinking, analytical ability, problem-solving strength.OTHER:Ability to work independently and to perform effectively as a member of a team. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy and deal with people in a calm and effective manner in sometimes sensitive situation and to maintain confidentiality. Ability to assimilate and interpret complex information; ability to make a sound business case for changes that are needed; ability to apply principles to factual situations; a strong sense of process; ability to meet the needs of a variety of stakeholders while preserving institutional interest; strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
