The role is the single threaded leader for Systems Development and Operations in the AWS UK region build team. The role works to set and execute the strategic vision for operations teams in collaboration with product, sales, security and service teams. The role requires a detailed understanding and ability to drive critical aspects of operations. The leader in this role should be customer obsessed, with ability to balance long-term vision with near-term customer needs. The role will lead strategic initiatives and provide support to operations and development teams in the UK.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS– BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field
– Substantial experience building and leading engineering teams that design and deliver large-scale distributed systems
– Experience in software development, systems engineering and automation, under UNIX/Linux
– Demonstrated ability to hire and retain top performers, and lead a high performing team
– Decisive, confident, and experienced with influencing others
– Proven coaching and leadership skills including evidence of successful succession planning
– Strong communication and negotiation skills, demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders
– Ability to work at all levels in the organisation
– Experience delivering successfully, at pacePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS– MS/PhD degree in Computer Science
– Experience managing engineering teams
– Experience of problem-solving, debugging and large-scale event management, with customer-facing services
– Successful track record in working on large cross-functional, cross-organisational transformation efforts
