Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Manager, and under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, the Mental Health Therapist with Diversion and Family Violence provides outpatient assessment and treatment to a client population who have come into conflict with the legal/justice system. This provincial program provides mental health services with a high degree of independence in accordance with program and professional standards. This position has primary responsibility with the Family Violence and Diversion Program; however, you will provide clinical assessment and treatment in a wide variety of areas such as general, domestic violence and sexual violence offenses, cognitive functioning and behavioral assessment and screening. You will also provide short-term support such as supportive counseling, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing or other types of counseling as needed for stabilization. Further, you may provide consultation to members of the interdisciplinary team and to outside professionals and agencies in an appropriate manner. You will prepare reports to the legal system including court reports for the purpose of pre-sentence disposition. You will demonstrate a commitment to collaborative practice; respect for diversity using a supportive, non-judgmental approach; communication skills and the ability to work in a flexible interdisciplinary setting; conflict resolution, problem solving, and critical thinking. Additional responsibilities will also include supporting students and new staff orientation. The MHT for the Diversion and Family Violence Treatment Program is an advanced mental health role required to perform the restricted activity of Psychosocial Interventions to address the full range of addiction and mental health issues.Description:As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:Master’s degree in Psychology; or master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master’s or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master’s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in social work, registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse will be considered.
