The IoPPN’s greatest strength is the interdisciplinary nature of both its research strategy and educational activities, providing unique opportunities for students and staff.IoPPN webpage:Department of Psychology:About the roleThis is an exciting opportunity for a clinical academic in clinical psychology (Reader or Professor depending on qualifications, skills & experience) with strong research and clinical experience to lead the DClinPsy programme at the Department of Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London (IoPPN-KCL).The DClinPsy Programme Director will report to the Head of Department and will work with the Dean of Education to provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of the Programme. The post holder will work closely with other members of the senior members of the programme team to ensure that the programme maintains its current excellent standards of governance, teaching, and research and clinical training.The post-holder will have management responsibility for programme staff and trainees guided by KCL policies. They will directly line manage and appraise members of the DClinPsy programme team including the senior management team.The post-holder will ensure that the Programme meets all necessary accreditation and quality assurance criteria, such as those relating to KCL, BPS, HCPC, NHS England and secondary accreditation bodies (BABCP and AFT). They will Chair the Training Programme Committee and meetings of senior management team and core programme staff. They will represent the Programme at organisational level. They will have overall responsibility for managing an agreed budget for the training programme.They will ensure that systematic monitoring procedures are in place across academic, clinical, research and selection components of the programme.They will negotiate and manage training contracts. They will liaise and negotiate with key stakeholders such as SLAM and Salomons. They will contribute to UK clinical psychology training by attendance at appropriate professional committees and meetings and act as External Examiner to other programmes.This role will constitute the large majority of the post-holder’s education-related work plan. In addition, they may be asked to undertake some direct teaching in relevant areas of clinical or research specialisms on the DClinPsy and other undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.As an academic appointment, the appointee will undertake activities additional to the programme director role as appropriate to their level of appointment. This includes undertaking and publishing internationally excellent research in an area of basic or applied psychology, supported by grant income (consistent with level of appointment). They will be expected to provide supervised research project opportunities for doctoral research students (DClinPsy/PhD) and where possible undergraduate and master’s students. They will be expected to contribute through academic citizenship to the department, faculty and wider university.This is a full time post, with an indefinite contract subject to passing probation.£76,187 to £110,816 reader/Professorial level, per annum, including London Weighting Allowance
