For more information, visit www.worldbank.org ITS Vice Presidency Context: Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity in a sustainable way by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 150 locations. Our vision is to transform how the Bank Group accomplishes its mission through information and technology. In this fast-paced, ever-changing world, the formulation and implementation of the ITS strategy is an ongoing, iterative process of learning and adaptation developed through extensive consultations with business partners throughout the World Bank Group. ITS shapes its strategy in response to changing business priorities and leverages new technologies to achieve three high-level business outcomes: business enablement, by providing Bank Group units with innovative digital tools and technologies to transform how they deliver value for their clients; empowerment & effectiveness, by ensuring that all Bank Group staff are connected, able to find information, and productive to accelerate the delivery of development solutions globally; and resilience, by equipping the Bank Group to provide risk-based cybersecurity and robust data protection for a global network and a growing cloud platform. Implementation of the strategy is guided by three core principles. The first is to deliver solutions for business partners that are customer-centric, innovative, and transformative. The second is to provide the Bank Group with value for money with selective and standard technologies. The third principle is to excel at the basics by providing a high performing, robust, and resilient IT environment for the organization. WBG Finance (ITSFI) is responsible for providing high quality, streamlined information and technology solutions for the World Bank’s Financial & HR services, which include Human Resources, Corporate Finance, Risk Management, Controls, Treasury, Loans, Accounting, and Concessional finance (handling donor contributions from inception to the point of final disbursement, including IDA, Financial Intermediary Funds and Trust Funds). ITSFI is additionally responsible for building its IT services using a shared platform that provides scale, leverage, reliability, and control while at the same time improving responsiveness to emerging business needs. The ITSFI team is accountable for the implementation of the ITS Strategy supporting WBG core finance business processes. As a unit within the Finance ITS, ITSRA provides IT applications to support VPUs engaged in risk management activities throughout the WBG. This is a new position in ITSRA Chennai to deliver IT solutions supporting internal and external client business functions for IBRD and IDA. Skills and Technical Capabilities This position is for a highly motivated, driven individual with a passion for working in teams and team coordination. The ideal candidate will be an independent contributor and a thorough professional, with ability to work with geographically dispersed teams. The individual will act as a project coordinator for the various projects being executed. The ideal candidate should: o Have excellent written and oral communication skills in English o Have very strong analytical skills, intelligence, creativity and adaptability. o Have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools like MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint o Have ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-driven to complete tasks assigned o Have ability to work and collaborate with other team members o Collect collate and document details of the progress of the various projects o Prepare project status report using MS Power point and other MS tools like Word and Excel o Follow up on tasks and project progress o Identify and track budget requirements and expenses o Have reasonably good knowledge of Azure SQL/ MS SQL and be able to write basic SQL queries and perform DML and DDL operations. o Work closely with other technical professionals in a multicultural environment. o Therefore, the candidate should have excellent communication and teamwork skills. Duties and Accountabilities The ideal candidate should be able to o Monitor inbound and outbound feeds to various systems and provide the L1 support for queries from business and other members from the ITS team. o Segregate the Help Desk Tickets and follow up on the High Priority issues as part of L1 support process. o Work with the various team to understand the progress of the various projects and create the various project status reports for stakeholders, including senior management and project manager. o Work with the team and the Project Manager to create Azure Active Directory Groups and assign users to these AD groups on a need basis as part of the project. o Consolidate the existing documentation on various Business Processes, Applications, and major Deliverables in the projects (In Progress / Pipeline). o Manage the various team activities including ensuring submission of timesheet and coordinate with the users to ensure the same is done on time and help with resolution of any issues. o Capture and organize the Technical & Functional details required for the creation of deliverables (Use ADO to manage the documentation) o Setup standard templates for the widely used artifacts like design documents, release notes, requirement specifications etc. (Example: Identify and segregate the Project specific documentation, Shared / Cross Project Documentation, Cross Team documentation which can be searched easily). o Co-ordinate and schedule interview for onboarding candidates into the team. o Help with the onboarding of candidates to the team by coordinating with the various stakeholders. o Consolidate the Status reports including the progress of current deliverables and the pending backlogs from all the team members. o Create & maintain the team calendar and alert the team members on the upcoming milestones, deadlines. o The candidate must be detail-oriented and possess the ability to lead and prioritize multiple demands from a large user base. Leading or participating in design and architecture sessions with key business users, collecting and documenting business processes and requirements for the system • Architecting or driving the solution architecture, related customizations as part of support of applications already in production. • Collaborating with the business users on solution development and support and/ or integration processes • The ideal candidate will be well versed in the entire SDLC processes and have executed projects in Agile and Waterfall methods. • The candidate should have knowledge of project management processes and activities. • Balance business users’ requests and requirements with technical constraints • Work with business users to understand the requirement and conduct fit-gap analysis to existing functionality in the application and also create a road map for new features to the application set. • Writing technical specifications for planned work, mocking up specifications, testing and deployment of development projects • Working knowledge of Power BI dashboards & reports using Power BI desktop, Report builder • Maintain code repository, backlog and source control using TFS/ ADO. • Coordinate with Business Systems Manager to ensure overall business solution is positioned and implemented in line with global architecture and roadmap • Ensuring consistent release management, change management and project approval processes • Establishes systems to supervise the operating efficiency of existing application systems and provides (or arranges for) proactive maintenance. • Participates in systems design, working within an established framework. Typically provides direction to a team of staff and contractors in their area of expertise and may be responsible for managing performance of team members. • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to team members and review the deliverables to ensure alignment with WBG standards and guidelines • Guide the development team to create project and application architecture results / artifacts in line with WBG Enterprise Architecture-reference architecture, guiding principles, standards, methodologies, and best practices • Stays abreast of new technologies, market trends, experiment new tools and emerging solutions that is in line with organization’s strategic goals • Work closely with the product vendor(s), Infrastructure teams e.g., Windows, Web Administration, Network Operations, Infrastructure Platforms, Mobility, Database, Security Administration to define deployment architecture and capacity planning for any new environment / Landscape and any critical issue for resolution of the Information Security (OIS) during various stages of software development and act as a liaison for various development teams • Respond to client queries and provide technical support/ guidance to the application support team and coordinate with other ITS teams in resolving day-to-day production issues quickly based on problem criticality. • Coordination with on-site counter parts on various responsibilities that are listed above with flexible shift timings. • Vendor Contractor Management – Coordinates with contractors from one or more vendor partners and ensure timely delivery with required quality. • Create project plan and status reports for various projects and ensure that the project tasks are monitored continuously, and projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Selection Criteria
• Bachelor’s degree with no experience required or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. • World Bank Group experience is a plus.
