EAP Tutor (based in Panjin, China)

University of Leicester

About the role

The University of Leicester has partnerships with two universities in China. Since 2017 we have partnered with Dalian University of Technology (DUT) offering a range of College of Science and Engineering Bachelor degree programmes and in 2020 the first intake of students started at Chongqing Medical University (CQMU), studying a Bachelor’s programme of Clinical Medicine and Clinical Science.

The courses are taught in English by academic staff from the UK and PRC, integrating an intensive English Language course within the first year of degree.  Typically, the University of Leicester is responsible for providing all lecture and course material for the core curriculum, the English language modules and teaching 50% of the modules for each programme. As an EAP tutor, you will be responsible for delivering the English language modules to first year students.

About you

We are seeking EAP tutors who can teach high-quality lessons within a communicative approach.  You should be able to adapt to institutional and student needs and be willing to collaborate with colleagues in the ongoing development of the English language programme.   Additionally, as this is a collaborative provision delivered offshore, you should be able to adapt to unpredictable challenges both inside and outside the classroom.

You will hold a recognised TEFLI qualification, such as CELTA or the equivalent, with substantial experience EFL. You will also have experience of teaching on pre-sessional or in-sessional EAP courses in a university context.

Additional information

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Gary Marston on [email protected]  or James Lambert on [email protected] .

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis as we continually review the teaching requirements for the summer courses. If you haven’t heard within one month of submitting your application, you can assume that you haven’t been successful. The outcome of your application will be confirmed by 30 September 2023 at the latest.
