Ecologist / Ornithologist

We are currently seeking an ecologist/ornithologist to join our friendly team. We are looking for someone that has a good understanding of terrestrial habitats and protected species survey techniques in general but who specialises in ornithology and has great communication and report-writing skills.

We are inviting professionals with previous or current experience to apply.

Key requirements for the role are:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience including 2 years’ experience undertaking a range of ornithological surveys including breeding bird survey, wintering bird survey, vantage point surveys and coastal bird surveys;
  • Experience with managing small scale projects and preparing reports;
  • Appropriate degree/professional qualification(s);
  • IT skills with knowledge of full Microsoft Office package; and
  • A full UK driving licence.

Core responsibilities of the position will include:

  • Completion of baseline ecological habitat surveys;
  • Completion of protected species surveys, with a focus on ornithological surveys;
  • Liaising and working with specialist sub-consultants (as required); and
  • Preparation of reports and data handling to support site and other survey work.
