Job Title: Education Facilitator
Responsible to: Education and Event Coordinator
Location: Nourish Hub, W11 4SS
Working pattern: 15 hours per week across 3 days (1 year fixed term contract)
Hourly Rate: Dependent on experience

Nourish Hub Background:

In 2017 the Mayor of London asked for bids from across the local authorities in London to
deliver projects under the Good Growth umbrella. The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham
were selected to deliver the Nourish Hub on the Edward Woods Estate in Hammersmith. UKHarvest,
a national food rescue and education charity were chosen as the partner to deliver the
activities within the Hub, delivering learning and training opportunities and providing
engagement and outreach services for the local community. The Hub delivers opportunities for
all to nourish the mind, body and soul. Using rescued food as a medium to empower, people are
offered a Community Lunch every weekday on a “donate as you dine” basis, an Education and
Learning Programmes (NOURISHed) to meet local need and an extensive volunteer programme to
upskills and provide community capacity. Everything we do is to enrich and support our
community.

Job Background:

Due to the growth in delivery of our NOURISHed programme, Nourish Hub are looking for an
Education Facilitator to support exciting new projects. Working with a diverse range of service
users, to ensure UKHarvest achieves its core purpose of educating the general public about food
waste, nutrition and basic cooking skills.

We are seeking an Education Facilitator who can motivate and inspire our learners to achieve
their full potential whilst on our NOURISHed programmes. We are seeking candidates with diverse
experience in either education, food, public health and/or nutrition. You will report to the
Education and Events Coordinator and will deliver our successful education programmes at the
Nourish Hub and throughout Hammersmith and Fulham.

Main Objectives:

  • Follow session plans provided, to deliver fun, engaging and inclusive funded educational
    sessions to a wide variety of Learners (varying ages from7+ and including Young Adults to
    Adults of differing abilities and educational needs)
  • Give constructive feedback on progress to support learners as they achieve.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance and assessment of learner progress.
  • To ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Ensure all participants and volunteers follow correct food hygiene and kitchen procedures,
    alongside safeguarding children and adults.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the delivery of education sessions to a variety of service users, supporting a
    UKHarvest Chef in each session.
  • Working with other team members to retain UKHarvest’s core value to Nourish Our Nation.
  • Ensure professional best practice and compliance with UKHarvest and industry standards.
  • Ensure programme delivery is inclusive and meets the needs of a variety of learners.
  • Ensure that UKHarvest education programmes are effectively monitored and evaluated using
    UKHarvest programme/session evaluation tools.
  • Work with due regard for UKHarvest’s core values and objectives
  • Ensure the effective implementation of and adherence to, UKHarvest’s Diversity, Equal
    Opportunities and Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Essential Skills:

You must have previous experience delivering group education training or mentoring, and be able
to work with a range of learners including some who may be challenging at times and some who
may have mild to moderate learning difficulties.
