Under the guidance and general supervision of the Regional Education Adviser (Level 5), the Specialist will provide solid technical assistance, quality assurance and knowledge management to support, inclusive education related tasks, including the regional programming activities for the ‘Accessible Digital Textbooks for all’ initiative (ADT).The Specialist will also be the leading person to support the knowledge management for the section which includes systematizing and disseminating country office’s priority programme activities and results for both knowledge exchange and documentation as well as to support advocacy and resource mobilization. Finally, they are in charge of supporting the development and preparation of the Education programmes and is responsible for managing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting the progress of education programmes/projects within the regional programmatic activities.

 

The Specialist provides technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of results on education programmes/projects to improve learning outcomes and equitable and inclusive education, especially for children who are marginalized, disadvantaged, and excluded in society.

The Specialist contributes to achievement of results according to plans, allocation, results based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), as well as UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance, and accountability framework.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

Education: A Master university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, economics, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education.

 

  • A minimum of two years of professional experience working in inclusive education and diversity as well as knowledge management for education programming is required.

Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another official UN language as French or Portuguese will be an asset.


Desirables:

  • Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
