Job Description:School of Engineering, College of Science & EngineeringDepartment: Integrated Micro and Nano SystemsGrade, Salary Range: UE05 £27,979.00 – £32,332.00Contract type – Fixed Term for up to 5 YearsFull Time – 35 Hours Per WeekNumber of posts 1The Opportunity:The APRIL Engagement Officer will play a key role in bringing together the Hub community through organising and delivering a variety of events with partners and stakeholders and leading on outreach for the Hub. APRIL will develop AI tools to accelerate the development of semiconductor technologies, novel microchip designs and system architectures – leading to faster, cheaper, greener and overall more power-efficient electronics. As one of nine EPSRC funded AI Hubs, this is a highly visible hub both nationally and internationally.The APRIL Engagement Officer will work closely with the APRIL operations team and a team of talented researchers to support co-creation of research challenges, support translational and commercialisation activities that deliver real-world impact, and generate a sustainable model of collaboration and growth.The post-holder will use knowledge of School and University administrative and engagement procedures to provide support to the management team and academic leads in other UK higher education (HE) institutions in respect of all related matters around the organisation of community events, stakeholder engagement meetings and outreach activities for the Hub.The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organisation and IT skills. They will enjoy working in a busy environment and be able to work on their own initiative as well as being an active team member. The role will report to the APRIL Hub Manager, with ongoing engagement with the Hub Director (Principal Investigator).Your skills and attributes for success:

Headed by Professor Iain Gordon, CSE comprises seven Schools (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, GeoSciences, Informatics, Mathematics, and Physics and Astronomy) as well as a national supercomputing centre (the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre) and the Bayes Centre for interdisciplinary data science and innovation. We extend beyond the University through many joint activities – for example we host the cross-Scotland DataLab innovation Centre, we are a founding partner in the Scottish Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre, and we are a partner in UK-wide collaborations including the Alan Turing Institute and the Rosalind Franklin Institute. Most Schools are located 2 miles south of the city centre at the King’s Buildings whilst Informatics, EPCC, Bayes and sections of GeoSciences are located in the University’s Central Area near George Square. The College has over 3,000 academic and support staff, and educates around 7,000 undergraduates, almost 1,500 taught postgraduates and more than 2,000 research students.
