These jobs are found in Headquarters (HQ). Job holders report to the Head, Facilities Management Services or a designate of the Director of WFP’s Management Services Division (MSD).
WFP’s dedicated Infrastructure and Facilities Management Branch (MSDI) is responsible for delivering an inspiring and highly efficient work environment to create a supportive and sustainable workspace for all our colleagues to deliver WFP’s mandate. Our team focuses on creating, maintaining, and enhancing the WFP working environment in line with the organisation’s objectives of cost excellence, environmental sustainability, and staff wellness.
MSDI includes units responsible for audio video, events & meeting rooms, maintenance, space planning, cleaning, porter services, asset management, energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, engineering, and construction and renovation of premises.
To oversee the implementation and management of efficient building management services and engineering team in HQ, ensuring optimal maintenance, operation, and optimization of organizational facilities.
1. Provide technical advice and support on the implementation of WFP policies, standards, norms and practices including procurement procedures related to construction activities and engineering services to ensure that outputs meet the established quality standards and are compliant with wider WFP policies, procedures, guidelines and operations including monitoring, documentation, training, risk management and stakeholder engagement.
2. Provide engineering and project management services, apply best practices, standards and innovative technologies, incorporating country-specific technical requirements that comply with WFP standards and processes.
3. Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of all major mechanical, plumbing and electrical installations to ensure efficient functioning of facilities.
4. Apply engineering principles to diagnose and address issues related to mechanical, plumbing and electrical installations and engage in technical discussion with relevant specialised contractors.
5. Manage and conduct analysis of project proposals to ensure business case and technical feasibility and that project objectives are attainable within prescribed resources.
6. Contribute to the analysis of civil works project proposals to facilitate informed decision-making regarding the technical feasibility of projects and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
7. Prepare tender specifications for the procurement of goods and services necessary for operating, maintaining, and conducting multiservice activities for the HQ site and its systems.
8. Develop procedures for preventive and regular maintenance of all site equipment and fittings.
9. Contribute to preparedness actions, providing technical recommendations and guidance. Monitor the management of risks to ensure compliance to fire and industrial safety standards.
10. Monitor energy consumption and recommend measures to achieve energy savings and improved efficiencies.
11. Ensure that both ordinary and extra ordinary maintenance tasks for all major installations in the Headquarters (HQ) buildings are executed promptly, overseeing the work of specialized contractors and/or internal staff.
12. Manage the Audio/Video and Handymen units to ensure efficient execution of related service provision contracts and support field operations by managing and leading the electrical safety assessment roving team in line with established guidelines.
13. Conduct engineering site assessments of WFP facilities and develop remedial plans to ensure suitability to operational purposes, safety, and efficiency of structures and equipment in line with WFP policies, criteria and standards.
14. Provide technical guidance that support a successful construction procurement process and build the capacity of engineering teams to facilitate the continued development and high performance.
15. Establish and maintain partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders to effectively meet their expectations and needs including MSDI, MSD, other HQ divisions, Country Offices, Regional Bureaux, external contractors and Italian utility suppliers.
16. Contribute to preparedness actions, providing technical evidence-based recommendations for senior staff on measures to improve the suitability of WFP facilities for operational purposes ensuring safety and efficiency of structures and equipment.
