Mission and objectives

We help countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience in order to sustain development results. In Libya, over the years, we have re-aligned our support to meet emerging priorities in the country.
Since the outbreak of conflict in 2014 and the deteriorating humanitarian situation, we continue to support Libya’s transition to an inclusive political agreement, accountable governance, stabilization, economic recovery and resilience.
Many of our initiatives have moved from nationally-implemented projects to direct implementation on the ground.
UNDP aims to support Libya’s transition to an inclusive political agreement through urgent rehabilitation of critical public services, expansion of dialogue between different stakeholders, support to constitutional processes underway and strengthened national and local capacities to be able to address the urgent needs of citizens.

Context

UNDP provides support to the decentralization process in Libya through various projects and activities. In order to expand our reach and share the knowledge on the SDGs as applied to subnational contexts, we are looking for dedicated volunteers to help us by translating correspondence, concepts and programmatic materials.
Note: Online volunteers share their time and expertise on a voluntary basis and do not receive any financial compensation. Contributing to sustainable human development, developing knowledge and skills and working in a multicultural environment are some of the many benefits of online volunteering. Upon successful completion of the assignment, the online volunteer will receive an electronic certificate of appreciation.

Task description

We are seeking 2 online volunteers to support us by translating programmatic documents, concepts and correspondence from English to Arabic and vice versa. To this end, the online volunteers are asked:
– Translate the documents in a timely manner.
– Ensure the translation is coherent and in line with the communication style of the original document.
– Adhere to the communications guidelines and timelines set by the project and UNDP.
The selected online volunteers will be provided with the documents in the original language and will receive guidance on the target audience and our communications guidelines as well as other guidance as needed.
The online volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the Local Governance team at UNDP Libya and learn about the ways in which the translated products contribute to promoting democratic governance, fair elections and sustainable development in Libya.
