You will primarily be based at Peterborough City Hospital with cross site working at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.Located in the western part of Cambridgeshire, the historic towns of Peterborough and Huntingdon have been transformed by town development schemes bringing improvements in housing, education, and employment opportunities. The hospitals are accessible by road or train within easy commute distance from London, Cambridge, Leicester or Birmingham.Your main duties will involve management of general ENT conditions in both an in-patient and out-patient setting as well as covering emergency ENT conditions during normal and out of hours rota.We are committed to supporting your career in an environment where your skills and initiatives are valued. We respect your wellbeing, and we are open to flexibility in your working patterns.Main duties of the jobDuring your time in the ENT department, you will be expected to improve your clinical and surgical skills. Together with the ENT clinical team whose focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of ENT conditions including H& N Cancer Management, you will be expected to take an active role in managing patient pathways.You will enjoy flexibility in your role which will give you the opportunity to be exposed and gain experience in various service requirements within the department. These would include work in Otology, Rhinology, Paediatric ENT, Head and Neck including 2WW outpatients, depending on the needs of the department and the skills and experience of the applicant.In addition, you will attend administrative duties, support with the training for junior members of staff and attend Audit and Clinical Governance meetings.About usWe are committed to ensuring a work-life balance for all our staff by offering full-time and part-time roles, and flexible working hours on a shift pattern to fit around your family life.We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. Job responsibilities

  • To provide high quality care to all ENT patients
  • To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
  • To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care activities.
  • To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.
  • To take an active role in managing patient pathways in their respective area.
  • To undertake administrative duties associated with their patients in line with departmental guidelines.
  • To support with the training of junior specialist trainees and other junior doctors in the ENT surgery department.
  • To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and the Trust as required.

  • Full GMC with licence to practice
  • ENT experience at registrar level MRCS or equivalent
  • Experience in ENT
  • MBBS or equivalent

Experience & Training

  • Evidence of competence and experience of appropriate independent decision-making out-of-hours (when not directly supervised)

Clinical Skills
Essential

  • Clinical Judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk
  • Knowing when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need
  • Practical skills: show excellent aptitude for practice skills required for the job
  • Proven ability to work effectively in the various clinical settings required for the job
  • Evidence of accuracy, care and timely recording of all necessary clinical data, both written and electronic

Academic
Essential

  • Evidence of previous presentations and publications
  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates/post graduates and junior medical staff.
  • Evidence of active participation in audit
