Working as part of a team, in collaboration with other department staff, the Environment & Facilities Support Technician will assist and coordinate facility improvement projects in a manner that supports the Department’s role in managing all aspects of the physical environment at CCMB.This role will assist the Environment Lead in supporting project teams to demonstrate and promote a safe and healthy environment for the patients, visitors, and employees of CancerCare Manitoba.The largest volume of work and building/facility maintenance projects will be based at the CCMB MacCharles Building, which is located as part of the Health Sciences Centre (HSC) Campus, although departmental support also extends to four other CCMB sites in Winnipeg.Qualifications:Education:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited education institution
  • Post secondary education in a related discipline, (i.e. drafting, building science, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, environmental design, or similar) from an accredited post-secondary education institution is preferred

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in a trades setting, or in an institutional facility support setting, requiring general knowledge of trade responsibilities, building maintenance, project planning, project scheduling, client relationship management, and supervision of trades
  • Experience working in a fast-paced setting with multiple ongoing projects with competing deadlines
  • Proficient with MS Word/Excel/Outlook
  • Ability to travel between all sites
  • Working knowledge of building codes and regulations, and laws relevant to the position
  • Working knowledge of Manitoba safety and health standards
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to accompany staff to work at heights, within small spaces and to climb, reach, kneel, and squat to examine facilities related issues
  • Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings at multiple sites throughout the organization, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 25 pounds.
  • Travel to other sites/facilities throughout the province requiring a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate service requirements

Preferred:

  • Documented apprenticeship level achievement in a building/facility related trade
  • Experience working in a health care facility, or health campus setting,
  • Knowledge and skills with AutoCad, BIM, or similar software
  • Project management certification and training
  • Ability to speak French
