Arcadis Canada is seeking an experienced Environmental Field Technician to join our Resilience team in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada. This role sits within the Global Resilience Business Area and will support our many active remediation projects. The successful candidate will co-ordinate and execute activities assigned by Project Managers pertaining to the execution of environmental projects, including performing oversight for the installation of various remediation/treatment systems, complete regular inspections of remediation/treatment systems including equipment maintenance and compliance sampling. The successful candidate should hold a good understanding of various remediation systems and have the ability to troubleshoot through treatment systems issues, repair plumbing and equipment issues and assemble/disassemble components for water treatment systems (e.g., tanks, pumps, valves, media vessels, filter vessels, manifolds, mounting brackets, hosing) as required.Additionally, the successful candidate will support environmental site assessments, risk assessments, and remediation projects under the direction and guidance of a Project Manager. This includes conducting site visits and inspections, monitoring and supervising drilling and/or remediation activities, preparing field notes, and collecting soil and groundwater samples, and supporting data tabulation and writing environmental reports.85% travel to sites throughout Ontario will be required as well as an opportunity to travel across Canada as required.Role accountabilities:
- Strong understanding of treatment systems and associated mechanics and plumbing.
- Strong understanding of field protocols including soil, groundwater, and vapour sampling. and overseeing drilling activities and subcontractor management.
- Maintain knowledge and familiarity with provincial and federal regulatory frameworks (i.e., O.Reg.153).
- Diligent interpretation of environmental data.
- Comparison of sample results to applicable guidelines and standards.
- Preparation of reports documenting the results of inspection and/or investigation programs.
Key Skills:
- Mechanically inclined
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Technical Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, engineering, earth sciences, or related field
- 2+ years’ experience in maintaining remediation/treatment systems and subcontractor management, preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- C. Tech or C.E.T or eligibility for P.Eng. or P.Geo. considered an asset.
