This key role will support major infrastructure and industrial projects by ensuring all necessary environmental permits and assessments are obtained efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will manage a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with various stakeholders to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. This role sits within the Global Resilience Business Area.Role accountabilities:As an Environmental Permitting Manager, your role accountabilities will include:
- Leading the preparation and submission of environmental and regulatory plans, and environmental permit applications from federal and provincial agencies.
- Completing Environmental Impact Assessments and assisting private and government clients in obtaining Environmental Assessment Certificates.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental assessment (EAC) and permit conditions through effective tracking, reporting, and sign-off processes.
- Managing and overseeing permitting work that involves multiple disciplines including freshwater and marine aquatic habitats, bird, mammals and other wildlife habitats, air quality, noise, vibration, and archaeology.
- Developing and implementing marine and freshwater aquatic baseline and monitoring programs to support permit applications and verify compliance requirements.
- Developing fish habitat restoration, enhancement, and creation plans, designs, and reports, including offsetting plans.
- Overseeing fisheries research, fish habitat restoration, and offsetting programs planning and implementation.
- Collaborating with archaeologists to implement heritage requirements related to construction projects.
- Providing strategic regulatory and environmental advice to clients related to project design, impact mitigation, and obtaining environmental approvals.
- Maintaining effective and good working relationships with EAO, DFO, FLNRO, other government agencies, Indigenous nations, and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:The successful candidate will have a proven track record in environmental permitting processes within British Columbia. They will also have proven experience in interpreting and implementing provincial and federal environmental regulatory requirements. Other requirements include:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, environmental science, or environmental resource management.
- Professional designation or Qualified Professional status
The successful candidate must have 10-15 years of experience, primarily in British Columbia, with major infrastructure and industrial projects. Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects are considered essential for this role. A proven track record of managing clients, contractors, and regulators as it related to permitting is needed, with strong familiarity of EAO, DFO, FLNRO, and other provincial agencies.Why Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best. The salary range for this position is $115,000-150,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position.
