Environmental Technology Systems Engineer

Meteor Communications are an innovative technology company providing environmental monitoring solutions. We design a range of products which protects key environmental and water assets across the UK and worldwide. From our HQ in Hertfordshire we design, manufacture, install and maintain systems which measure water quality, monitor flood defence features, protect the rail network and marine navigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site surveys and technical assessments
  • Build, configure and test monitoring equipment and systems
  • Install, commission and maintain field-based monitoring solutions
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Support system integration and deployment activities
  • Provide excellent customer support and represent Meteor professionally on-site
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Assist with documentation, reporting and continuous improvement activities

Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK (with occasional overnight stays) and potentially overseas
  • Be self-motivated and willing to work both as part of a team and independently
  • Competent problem solver
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise work requests
  • A full UK driving license is essential.

Training will be provided and it is expected that the individual will learn from the team as the role develops.

We are not prescriptive on background but would expect to see a record of delivery, coupled with the ability to think quickly, react appropriately, adapt to changing situations and always provide an outstanding service to our customers.
