
RSPB
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Estate Worker to support the maintenance and development of RSPB reserves in Northwest Norfolk, including the prestigious RSPB Titchwell Marsh and Snettisham. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that our infrastructure, buildings, and estate are well-maintained to provide a high-quality experience for visitors while meeting conservation and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop buildings and site infrastructure, including footpaths and fencing, to ensure they are operating effectively.
- Lead on the servicing and maintenance of machinery, tools, and vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Oversee the management of the workshop, drying room, and storage areas.
- Lead on estate maintenance, including vegetation cutting and strimming, to meet presentation and safety standards.
- Manage and coordinate estate maintenance volunteers and work parties to support estate management activities.
- Be responsible for the purchasing of tools and equipment in line with the authorised budget.
- Assist with habitat management as directed by the Warden.
Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience in delivering high-quality practical estate maintenance work.
- Experience in operating, maintaining, and servicing machinery, tools, and vehicles including record keeping
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Experience in vegetation cutting and strimming.
- Good people skills with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements and the ability to create risk assessments and follow safe working practices.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Experience and relevant licence for towing trailers.
- Experience using a pedestrian mower.
- Emergency first aid qualification.
