EU Food Safety & Quality Manager
About the job
The European Cocoa Association represents the European cocoa bean trading, processing and logistics industry, on behalf of which it monitors EU regulatory and scientific developments.
We are looking for a qualified and highly motivated professional to join our team as Food Safety & Quality Manager. Based in Brussels, the position might require occasional business travel within Europe. We would like the selected candidate to start ideally as soon as possible, but there is some flexibility with regards to the precise starting date.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse relevant regulatory food safety developments at EU and international levels, brief members, draft position papers and/or statements, and support members upon request.
- Organise and coordinate the work of the “Pesticides & Contaminants” and “Quality & Productivity” Working Groups, ensuring proper follow-up.
- Liaise with key EU stakeholders (European Commission, Council, EFSA) and international organisations (FAO, ICCO).
- Coordinate with the cocoa research community on matters of interest to the ECA membership, including in the context of existing or new ad-hoc research projects of the Joint Research Fund.
- Analyse and disseminate information on cocoa-related food safety and quality topics, notably through the monthly newsletters.
- Assist in the organisation of events gathering industry representatives and key supply chain partners.
Qualifications and skills
- Master’s degree or PhD in Food Law, Food Science, Toxicology or relevant fields, ideally combined with EU Affairs knowledge.
- Experience in EU food safety policy, preferably within European trade associations, EU institutions or consultancies.
- Data analysis and statistical skills are an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong IT and MS Office skills.
- Ability to plan and prioritise varied tasks in a small team, and to work autonomously.
