Vacancy: EU Policy Coordinator (Animal Health and Welfare Policy)

Join EAZA, the world’s largest regional zoo and aquarium association, as an EU Policy Coordinator in Brussels. You’ll play a crucial role in shaping and implementing EU animal health and welfare policies that impact zoos and aquariums across Europe.
Policy and Legislation:
- Lead EAZA’s advocacy on EU animal health and welfare policies, focusing on the EU Animal Health Law Regulation.
- Engage with EU authorities, stakeholders, and coordinate statements, lobby letters, and responses to public consultations.
- Support the development and delivery of EAZA Academy courses related to your areas of responsibility.
- Assist in organizing public events for EU policymakers.
- Aid EAZA members in understanding and implementing EU policies, enhancing their advocacy impact, including coordinating the annual EU Study Visit to Brussels.
EAZA Operations:
- Support the achievement of strategic goals, particularly in relation to the Veterinary and National Associations Committees.
- Collaborate with the European Association of Zoo- and Wildlife Veterinarians.
- Participate in accreditation screenings of EAZA members as a rapporteur.
- Contribute to communications for members and external audiences via newsletters, websites, and journals.
- Assist with conference preparation and other tasks of the EAZA Executive Office as needed.
Qualifications:
- Degree in veterinary medicine or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in zoo/wildlife health policy.
- Strong understanding of EU decision-making processes and relevant legislation.
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional European languages are a plus.
- Experience in a membership-based association is advantageous.
Employment Terms:
- Full-time, 38 hours/week, based in Brussels.
- Salary: €43,000 – €44,000 gross per annum, including benefits like a 13th-month salary, 25 days holiday, and a pension.
