The Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC) has been the voice of Canada’s independent documentary community for forty years. DOC represents 1,400+ members across the country, grouped into six chapters from the Atlantic provinces to the West coast. DOC’s team conducts National policy work and implements programs that respond to our members’ needs. DOC is currently seeking an Executive Director at the Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC). The Executive Director engages in high level policy discussions across every level of Government and institution and is responsible for both leading and being the point person for National documentary policy in this country. The Executive Director is also responsible for overseeing a National registered charity that produces and manages projects and programs in service to our members. The ED works closely with our six regional Chapters, and is in regular communication with members both in-person and online. The ED oversees DOC’s dedicated staff and supports them in carrying out their duties. The ED ensures that DOC remains member-driven, and that the organization’s work aligns with the Board of Directors’ vision for an organization rooted in equity, mutual respect, and support for the documentary art form.WHAT THE CANDIDATE WILL DO

DOC’s work environment is one of mutual respect, teamwork and close collaboration within a virtual office. We use online file sharing and messaging tools and open source coworking documents. Our team members have confidence in what they bring to DOC and are encouraged to grow their skills set and interests within their role. DOC offers a collegial, mutually supportive and stable work environment with access to a broad spectrum of inspiring members of the community creating work and advocating for change. We strive to respond efficiently to the documentary community’s needs with empathy and respect. DOC’s office hours are 9am – 5pm ET and this position is open to anyone in Canada.DOC’S VISION

HIRING PROCESS
The five-member hiring committee is composed of members of DOC’s National Board. The first round of Interviews will be conducted virtually as of April 10th. Selected candidates after the first round will be invited to Toronto for an in-person meeting. The board is hoping to welcome our new ED at our AGM in Toronto on May 1st, the official start date will be later in May.DOC would like to like to sincerely thank all applicants for your expressed interest in our
