Applications are invited for a 3-year self-funded PhD Studentship.
GDM is a strategically important topic for women’s health and public welfare. Bi-directionality of the condition means the impact of GDM varies significantly from person to person. This is further purported by cultural practices, environmental and social factors. The UK population has significantly changed over the last decade, especially with increases in migration patterns. The influx of migration from Europe, Asia and Africa primarily has meant there are many women with a variety of cultural practices that impact their pregnancy journey due to differences in their lifestyle.
The aim of this PhD are as follows;
· Advance our existing knowledge base and develop new knowledge on GDM based disease sequalae
· Gather a more granular understanding of the pathology linked to any presentation of disease sequalae that would assist healthcare professionals, services such as the NHS and other authorities
· Evaluate modifiable risk factors, management practices and promote continuous improvements using evidence-based approaches among all ethnicities/races, ages and geographical locations within the divulged nations
· To provide insights on health inequalities that would assist healthcare professionals and policy maker to improve healthcare services
Person Specification
Applicants should have a strong background in Science. They should have a commitment to womens health research and hold or realistically expect to obtain at least an Upper Second Class Honours Degree in Biomedical Science and/or Healthcare Sciences and/or Medicine.
