The Role

Working within the Students Directorate, this key role is responsible for providing leadership, motivation and direction to library staff. Working collaboratively, you will assist in the development and delivery of the Library and Learning Services team to ensure an appropriate learning resource base for staff and students.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues, the Head of Library and Learning Services and the Student Services Director, to ensure the university’s agreed strategic aims are embedded into functional plans for successful outcomes.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in delivering library services in a higher education environment. You will share our passion for an excellent student experience and the transformational impact of Learning at a modern and welcoming university. You will provide high quality innovative support for learning, teaching and research within your allocated subjects, including information skills teaching and information regulation.

A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and equally confident working on your own as a self-starter, you will demonstrate an innovative and imaginative approach to new and challenging situations. You can interpret data, develop subject knowledge related to the academic and subject portfolio and think laterally and creatively in problem resolution. 

Responsive to a wide range of users, needs and pressures, you will be involved in the creation and delivery of information skills teaching, project-based work, liaison and service initiatives that require a sound understanding of a library’s role in Higher Education. You will have experience of emerging information environments, digital developments and the implications for learning, teaching and research and the provision of services and stock.

Library and Learning Services support a range of information-driven activity from skills support through to innovative online learning experiences. We are key to the success of our students and staff in pursuing their learning, teaching and research ambitions.

A core part of our activity is to work closely and seamlessly with colleagues across the institution to achieve the best possible outcomes for the University community.

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £47,004 per annum.
