Farm Environment Adviser (Dorset)

Our role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Farm Environment Adviser to join our Dorset team – someone who can bring their own specialisms and experience. You will already have a broad range of skills and experience, perhaps gained through farming and/or in a nature conservation setting. You will need to be someone who is approachable, can build trust, has strong people skills and can influence farmers to work with us through providing the advice they need for a resilient farm business.

At FWAGSW, we work with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, giving environmental advice to farmers and partners on a variety of projects utilising funding from multiple sources. We are looking for someone who can apply a whole-farm approach; providing clear and helpful advice on the management of a range of environmental issues and opportunities, using your knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations and helping to creating sustainable farm businesses.

As well as providing advice, you will contribute to the delivery and outputs of existing and developing projects. There will be opportunities for you to deliver and manage projects with a focus on nature-based solutions to flood risk and reducing sediment and nutrients in watercourses.

You’ll have our full support, training and opportunities for your professional development, along with a contributory pension, life assurance, generous holiday allowance and the opportunity to work flexibly.

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of experience within the sector, whether that is habitats and wildlife, soils, nutrients, farm infrastructure, farm management, cropping, livestock or Nature Based Solutions. We are an open and inclusive organisation looking to improve the diversity of our workforce.

Our benefits:

  • 25 days annual leave, increasing by a day a year, up to 30 days. Plus the opportunity to buy/sell annual leave
  • Flexible, family friendly working
  • Company pension scheme, plus life assurance at 4 times your salary
  • Generous outdoor clothing allowance
  • Comprehensive and supportive induction, including access to our internal training programme, plus ongoing support to undertake relevant training, qualifications and relevant professional subscriptions
  • Employee wellbeing scheme
