HI India seeks applications from qualified candidates for the following position.
Finance & Accounts Officer–1 position
Terms & Conditions: Fixed Term (Renewable contract subject to finding situation)
Location: Aizawl, Mizoram
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure project accounts are in line with HI’s internal procedures, donor guidelines, and Indian legal requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of monthly financial reports and closure documents.
- Oversee bank reconciliations and logbooks, and conduct accounting controls.
- Ensure payments and remittances comply with local regulations, taxation laws, and accounting standards.
- Identify and alert financial risks and propose mitigation measures to the finance manager.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial reports with organizational policies.
- Conduct thorough reviews of transactions and validate supporting documents.
- Maintain clear documentation and audit trails for accountability and donor reviews
- Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts to ensure timely fund transfers to project partners.
- Conduct regular Budget Follow-Up to ensure expenses are aligned with the approved budget.
- Assist in project budget forecasting and expenditure monitoring.
- Support the preparation and submission of donor financial reports.
- Prepare and facilitate internal and external audits, ensuring timely availability of records.
- Maintain proper documentation and systematic archiving of financial records (both soft and hard copies).
- Coordinate with auditors and finance teams to address audit findings and compliance gaps.
Qualification and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in financial and accounts management, preferably in the NGO or development sector.
- Prior experience in handling financial operations for projects implemented through partners.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian financial regulations, taxation (GST, TDS), FCRA, and statutory compliance.
- Proficiency in financial software (Tally, Navision, or similar accounting systems).
- Experience in managing financial reporting for donor-funded projects.
* Fluency in English and Hindi. Knowledge of Mizo languages is an advantage.
