Vaccination Requirement |
The University of Nebraska Medicine Center (UNMC) requires COVID-19 vaccinations for all students, staff, and faculty. All employees must be fully vaccinated unless they have requested and been approved for an exemption based on a recognized medical reason, a sincerely held religious belief, or a pre-approved, 100% remote work agreement. Fully vaccinated means having received one dose of a single dose COVID-19 vaccine (Johnson & Johnson) or both doses of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination series (Moderna and Pfizer). As a prospective and/or a new employee at UNMC, you will be/are required to comply with the UNMC’s vaccination protocol. Non-faculty new hires, rehires and transfers will have five (5) days from the date of hire to provide proof of partial or full vaccination or to request a medical or religious exemption. Non-faculty new hires, rehires and transfers with proof of partial vaccination may have up to thirty-five (35) days from the hire date to be in full compliance with this policy. Non-faculty new hires, rehires and transfers who receive a denial of a request for medical or religious exemption will be given five (5) business days from exemption denial notification date to provide proof of compliance with this policy. Non-faculty new hires, rehires and transfers with no approved exemption who fail to comply with this policy will be separated. |

Position Summary | The Finance and Grants Coordinator for the Global Center for Health Security will be under the direction of the GCHS Associate Director of Finance to manage financing, personnel, and the GCHS contracts and grants, providing pre & post award support to principal investigators, submitting for federal and non-federal funding. Work with UNMC and NM finance offices to coordinate the invoicing and reconciliation of grant dollars. Provide analytical and financial support to GCHS while working with NM to ensure compliance with all grant related endeavors. |

Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: | Strong written, verbal, and analytical skills. Ability to work with a wide variety of personalities and to relate to different levels of personnel. Exceptional organizational skills, flexibility and the ability to work well under pressure. Knowledge of accounting rules and regulations.Ability to become an avid and confident user of UNMC and NM accounting systems. Ability to interpret and apply sponsor, institutional and departmental policies. Ability to manage high volume and complex transactions. Experience with all types of award mechanisms, including grants, contracts, subcontracts and cooperative agreements. Requires independent judgment and strong organization and communication skills with a customer service focus. General: General business acumen and vision to include: common sense, good judgment, negotiation skills, basic accounting, financial statement knowledge including accurate interpretation and analysis, and ability to anticipate and forecast programmatic needs of the business GCHS. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Advanced proficiency in analytic reasoning and strategic planning to formulate budgets and administrative policies and processes. Understanding of regulatory framework and internal controls (financial and compliance) and ability to apply them within the GCHS. Ability to assess risk and problem solve by critically evaluating alternative courses of action and arriving at solutions that are best for both the GCHS and UNMC/NM as a whole. Understanding of human resource administration and related regulatory environment. Exhibits a style of participatory leadership and fosters a climate of respect and collegiality to include competency regarding: conflict management, supervision, mentoring, and team building. Working knowledge of related technological resources/software to include enterprise systems and the MS Office suite. Ability to counsel superiors regarding required alternative courses of action. Demonstrated ability to develop complex contracts. Clinical: Ability to collaborate and manage across multiple organizations. Research: Understanding of pre-award budget preparation and related regulations such as Medicare coverage analysis, coordination of IRB or IACUC protocols, justifications. Understanding of post-award administration including set-up process, reconciliation, regular review, progress reports and close-out process. Knowledge of and compliance with award-specific and relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations to include A-21 and A-133 requirements. Understanding of strategic planning for GCHS. Ability to act as liaison with sponsors, subcontractors, and collaborators across the enterprise. |
