Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.
DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 700 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.
DRC is currently looking for a Finance Assistant to join our team in Dnipro.
This position is opended for Ukrainian nationals only.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Prepare payments made in cash, by check or via bank transfers in the existing DRC forms Payment Requests;
- Maintain the cashbox, currency exchange, cash count, work with cash in secure and confidential manner;
- Prepare the request for money to be transfer to the bank account;
- Ensure to update Expense Journals in Dynamics and Cashbooks in Excel on a daily basis to reflect the actual status of existing cash count and bank balance in all currencies;
- Ensure to update General Journals, Vendor Payment Journals in Dynamics; providing Invoices in Dynamics according to procedure PtoP before payment on a daily basis
- Submit Bank statements and signed Cash Counts and Cash Books to HoSS/Finance Manager before the 3rd of each calendar month;
- Assist with audit in each project per request from FAM/FAMO;
- Ensure usage of relevant activity number and project when cost booking takes place;
- Ensure that the cost description in Journals and Cashbook and that the quality of the Journals and Cashbook overall meets the DRC internal guidelines.
- Ensure proper filing system for Financial documents;
- Understanding of budgeting, forecasting and following Consolidate budget table (The FILE) of all Area (projects/activity numbers/BLs/categories/type of cost/deadlines, etc.);
- Actively take part in harmonization of operational work and collaboration with other Units: sharing with ideas, creating tools, updating guidance etc.;
- Other Finance tasks as requested by Management.
- Understand, and ensure the observance of the DRC Code of Conduct.

About you:
To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 2 years of experience, preferably in Finance area or equivalent.
Moreover, we also expect the following:
- Higher Finance education or in Applied Mathematics, Economic Cybernetics, Information Technologies.
- Fluency in Ukrainian, level English: minimum “A2” with ability and capacity to grow further.
- Bank online skills with payments, verifying, reconciliations, statements.
- Advanced user of MS Excel is required.
- Experience with Power BI, Power Query is desirable.
- Programming skills will be an advantage.
- Experience with ERP systems (such as Dynamics).
- Analytical mindset, attention to details, communicability, financial literacy and accuracy.
- Experience working in an NGO will be an advantage.
- Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
- Communicating and organizational skills, competence to keep negotiations.
- Accuracy in paper work.
