About the Role

The Blavatnik School of Government is looking to appoint a passionate and detail-oriented Finance Manager to play a vital role in a new £30m six-year project global research and policy initiative – one of the largest ever managed across the University’s entire Social Sciences Division.

The 

What Works Hub on Global Education (WWH)

aims to dramatically increase learning outcomes for children in developing countries by generating new evidence, and working with policymakers and NGOs to deliver the best teaching at scale.

Working in a small team of dedicated professional staff including a Project Officer (Finance and Compliance), and under the management of an excellent Operations Director, you will sit at the heart of making the WWH function to a first-rate standard.

You will oversee the finance and compliance elements of this complex project. You will line manage the Project Officer (Finance and Compliance) (after the inception phase) and, while the WWH will operate as an autonomous unit, you will also have a close working relationship with the Blavatnik School of Government’s Post Award Senior Finance Officer, the Head of Finance and the central University’s Research Services team.

This contract is fixed-term to 30 June 2027.

About You

You will have extensive financial management experience and the ability to analyse, interpret and respond to detailed financial data and written documentation, as well as manage a varied workload with multiple deadlines. You should have a flexible approach and excellent problem-solving, communication and organisational skills. Excellent IT skills, including advanced use of Excel is also essential.
