Subject to change.Position SummaryReporting to the Director of Finance, this position supports the hospital’s leadership to interpret, analyze and act upon program level, patient level and physician level financial and statistical information. The position supports extensive benchmarking and other utilization evaluation tools to support the preparation and analysis of the annual operating plan.The position also supports the monthly and annual financial reporting for the corporation including the preparation, analysis and submission of financial and statistical data to meet Ministry of Health and Ontario Health East reporting requirements. The Financial Analyst will interact closely with, and be responsible for the financial information needs of department heads and others within their service areas.Required
- CPA Designation completed or in progress, or equivalent work experience
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or any other related field
- 3-5 years financial / clinical analysis experience including accounting, reporting, budgeting, variance analysis
and business case development (healthcare preferred).
- Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting standards and relevant Ontario hospital funding methodology and reporting
standards (i.e. MIS/OHRS) preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information to both technical and
non-technical audiences at all levels.
- Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word)
- Experience with one or more ERPs or Information Systems (Oracle, SAP, Great Plains, Meditech etc.) and
financial reporting tools, i.e., TM1 preferred.
- Exceptional analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, multitasking, and execution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue
improvement.
- Proven ability to establish positive working relationships with staff, management, and external organizations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.
- An innovative, self-starter, able to work autonomously as well as within a team environment.
Duties
- Provide comprehensive financial and statistical analysis including forecasting, benchmarking, and performance metrics
monitoring to proactively identify risks and opportunities, and provide insightful analysis that supports strategic
decision-making.
- Interact closely with, and be responsible to, the financial information needs of department heads and others within
their service areas.
- Prepare and present detailed monthly reporting packages to various levels of leadership inclusive of variance analysis,
financial insights and other key performance metrics.
- Collaborate with the hospital’s leadership to conduct regular business unit reviews that facilitate a clear understanding
of program level financial and statistical results and guide the development of annual operating plans.
- Support the timely and accurate completion of month-end closing procedures, detailed variance analysis, year-end
working papers and financial statements.
- Support the submission of financial and statistical data to meet MOH and Ontario Health East reporting requirements
such as the MIS Trial Balance, SRI and other ad-hoc requests.
- Improve financial reporting capability by improving the quality of reporting, linking financial and statistical data to
performance metrics and playing a key role in the development and implementation of financial systems and reporting
tools
- Other duties as assigned.
