Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and training to all Peacekeeping and Special Political Missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs. This position is in the Technical Team of Campus Support, within the Central Service (CS), at the UNGSC, Brindisi, Italy. The incumbent reports to and works under the supervision of the Chief Campus Support. The Technical Team of Campus Support is responsible for the maintenance of the UNGSC facilities and is seeking for a Fire-fighting designer, in accordance with the Italian D.P.R. dated 1 August 2011, n. 151 and subsequent amendments, to be employed for the following duties: 1. Renewal of the following Fire Prevention Certificates: – Building 215: Gym – Classified under Activity 65.1.B – Building 94: School – Classified under Activity 67.4.C – Buildings 280, 281 e 282: Warehouse – Classified under Activity 70.2.C – Building 135: Conference – Classified under Activity 65.1.B – Fuel Station: Classified under Activity 13.2.B 2. Preparation of the fire design for the following building and infrastructure: – Paint Booth and Heat installation: Classified under Activity 14.1.B and 74.3.C – Building 254: Gym and Paper storage – Classified under Activity 65.1.B and 34.1.B – Building 118 B, C and D: workshop – Classified under Activity 53.3.C The incumbent will be responsible to perform the following duties: 1. Inspection and survey of existing sites, utilities, equipment, systems, and connections. 2. Preliminary assessment that includes: 2.1. Analysis and evaluation of various solutions. 2.2. Schematic drawings. 2.3. Advice on its feasibility. 2.4. Statement of estimates for each option. 3. Preparation of the document needed for the obtainment of the Fire prevention certificate (“Certificato di Prevenzione Incendi), in accordance with the Italian D.P.R. dated 1 August 2011, n. 151 and subsequent amendments.
Qualifications/special skills
Engineering degree, architecture degree, surveyor or Industrial Engineer is required. A Minimum of five (5) years continuous experience as Fire Designer as per art. 16 of the Italian Legislative Decree No. 139 dated 8 March 2006 and d.P.R. n. 151 dated 1 August 2011 and latest amendments is required. Enrollment in their respective Italian professional boards is required. Registration as qualified Professionals in the fire-fighting sector (“Professionista Antincendio”) of the Italian Minister of the Interior as per art. 16 of the Italian Legislative Decree No. 139 dated 8 March 2006 and D.P.R. n. 151 dated 1 August 2011, is required
