to join Oxford City Council and play a key role in reducing, managing and mitigating flood risk
in Oxford.

We are looking for a dynamic, pragmatic, solutions-focused and partner-orientated professional
to join our Environmental Quality team. You will be the Principal Flood Mitigation Officer for
Oxford City Council, working in the Environmental Quality team, part of Environmental
Sustainability.

This is a great opportunity to work with a range of Council services, private developers and
partners to deliver the Council’s responsibilities on flood management and provides
opportunities to work with a range of stakeholders and partners to reduce the risk of flooding
in Oxford.

Your primary responsibility will be to review and provide technical and specialist advice on
flood risk management, sustainable drainage systems and flood risk assessment in relation to
planning applications and consented developments within the city boundaries.

A key element of the work is to support partnership work with stakeholders to deliver flood
protection, management and mitigation, and to advise and educate in order to manage flood risk.

You will be responsible for coaching and contributing to the professional development of an
Environmental Sustainability Support Officer within the team, as well as providing oversight of
their work.

What Hybrid looks like in this role: Typically you will spend one day a week
in our Town Hall offices the rest of the time you will be working from home. You will be
required to attend site visits and Meetings when required.

Currently we have one role available, a Senior Flood Mitigation Officer with a career path to
move into a Principal Flood Mitigation Officer role in the future. Alternatively if you have
the relevant skill and experience you can apply for the Principal Flood Mitigation Officer
