We make the most of your skills and passion by actively supporting you to see what you can achieve no matter where you start with us.AccountabilitiesWe are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join the Bioscience Asthma & Skin Immunity research group in Cambridge, UK. The successful candidate will support the development of complex model systems to better understand the pathogenesis and treatment of chronic lung diseases. In this lab-based research role, you would be expected to demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm for innovative scientific research, applying expertise in lung tissue processing, culture, and analysis to Asthma, COPD, and Bronchiectasis biology.The role will be based in Cambridge at AstraZeneca’s state-of-the-art laboratories where you will follow the science to help drive innovation and advance medicine to help improve patient lives. You will collaborate with highly accomplished scientists from a variety of functional teams in Cambridge and our sites in Gaithersburg, US, and Gothenburg, Sweden, developing your career at the interface of research and drug discovery.Essential Skills/ExperiencePh.D. in Immunology or a closely related field, and a minimum of 5 years relevant laboratory experienceStrong hands-on experience with cell/tissue culture, processing of human/mouse tissue samplesStrong experience of multiparameter flow cytometry (15+ panels) and data analysis programsAbility to evaluate cellular responses by various means, for example ELISA, MSD, Western blotting, PCR and/or other similar technologiesHighly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team to support multiple research projectsStrong written and oral communication skills and the ability to critically analyse data sets with a high attention to detailAdaptability and flexibility to solve technical and logistical challengesDesirable Skills/ExperienceGood publication record and the ability to apply current scientific literature to projectsExperience supervising/mentoring junior scientists (i.e. undergraduate, masters and/or PhD students)Prior experience in the T cell, ILC, mucosal immunology fieldAt AstraZeneca, we are committed to making a difference.
