Our 100,000 sq.ft. facility currently houses 9 pouring lines, 2 heat treating lines and 22 machining centres.To support this growth, we have an immediate need for a leader to join our company as a Foundry Supervisor. Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing or foundry operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in quality control and inspection procedures.
  • Experience with Lean and 5S.
  • Production scheduling and control.
  • Continuous Improvement.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and the ability to enforce them in the workplace.
  • Proficiency in using computer software such as Microsoft Office and experience with production management systems.
  • A passion for getting things done.
  • A desire to learn, develop and actively participate in our Employee Training Program.

Responsibilities of role:

  • Setup, operate and maintain foundry equipment & tools to ensure precise pouring operations.
  • Ensure smooth operation of machinery by performing daily care and maintenance checks.
  • Contributes to pre-shift standup meetings on job scheduling priorities and communicate foundry’s goals, targets, and safety issues and facilitate problem solving activities.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate cross training programs within your department.
  • Manage department to ensure safety, quality, productionand efficien is on target.
  • Ensure quality parts are produced, monitor production, efficiencies and in process inspections.
  • Support and contribute to improvements and department initiatives.
  • Train workers on process and procedures assist when required and monitor production repeatedly.
  • Provide open communication between the foundry cell leaders and employees through meetings, information board, standardized instructions, encouraging suggestions, providing feedback and any audit reports.
  • Report to Foundry Manager in a timely matter any information that affects product delivery such as: attendance of workers, production issues, scheduling issues, and machine down time along with suggestions from workers on departmental improvements.
  • Maintain Kanban inventory & consumables.
  • Ensure compliance with Manitoba H&S Act as well as the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Actively provide leadership, mentoring and performance feedback to employees.
  • Promote dynamic work environment that encourages employee communication & involvement.
  • Supports Standard Manufacturers Services Ltd.’s strategic initiatives.
