The Rosalind Franklin Institute is a national research institute dedicated to developing new technologies to tackle important health research challenges. We drive bold and innovative technology development through interdisciplinary collaborations across our scientific research teams. The Franklin has selected a unique suite of techniques where we can push developments that are synergistic and impactful.Franklin students work on highly interdisciplinary projects across our research themes with real-world impact, world-leading research supervisors, access to industrial collaborations and top universities from across the UK and beyond-state-of-the-art technologies.We are recruiting open-minded students from any scientific, mathematical, engineering or computing discipline to work on the development of instruments across our research teams.The Franklin PhD programme is fully funded for four years, where successful students will be offered:

We can offer one international candidate a funded place on our Franklin PhD studentship. The successful international candidate will be registered with University of Edinburgh for the four years, during which time Edinburgh will generously cover international tuition fees. This means that this applicant will not have to pay any fees and will also receive an annual stipend funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. Please note that the Franklin cannot fund visa application costs, international flight costs or the immigration healthcare surcharge.
