Role Summary
To support ecoACTIVE’s education team in delivering environmental education and/or
outdoor/Forest School workshops at schools, or in community settings with the aim of:
- Developing young people and adults’ knowledge and understanding of sustainability issues
- Stimulating their participation in decision-making and practical improvements affecting their
local environment - Promoting changes in lifestyle, habits and behaviour to encourage
sustainability among young people and adults - Helping young people and adults to gain new
skills, confidence and resilience - Supporting individuals’ wellbeing and learning through
community and outdoor activities
Assisting with administration tasks where required.

ecoACTIVE is a caring, and supportive organisation to
work for. We are a small team (currently six members of staff), guided by a dedicated group of
Trustees, and assisted by freelance session workers and volunteers.
About our projects
ecoACTIVE currently runs the following projects:

Earth education sessions for primary and secondary schools, at Leaside Trust, and across London and
surrounding areas

Forest school for children aged 7-11 years in partnership with Hackney adventure
playgrounds and local schools -
Community Garden Network project with residents on social housing estates in
Hackney
- Hackney Buzzline, creating a 4 km pollinator corridor in Hackney
Conditions
Remuneration
- Lead session worker, leading sessions at schools or events – £17.50 per hour
- Support session
worker, assisting during sessions or assisting with admin – £15.00 per hour - Forest School
Leader (Level 3) leading Forest School sessions (if applicable) – £22.86 per hour
Contract Type
This is a freelance role, so you will be asked to submit monthly invoices and timesheets to ecoACTIVE and will be responsible for paying your own tax (we will ask you to supply a Unique Tax Reference Number).
Please note, proof of the right to work in the UK will be required. We are committed to
safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, so successful candidates will undergo an enhanced
DBS check and will be asked to provide details for two referees.
