Compensation: Negotiable, based on experience

The Saola Foundation is a US-based nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of the
globally significant biodiversity of the Annamite Mountains Lao, Vietnam and Cambodia.

The Saola Foundation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Fundraising and Communications
Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about wildlife conservation
and possess a strong track record in nonprofit development. This part-time role is critical to
meet our ambitious goals to create lasting impact in Annamite Mountains conservation.
Creativity, exceptional written English skills, and strong social and communication abilities
are essential for this role. As part of an international dynamic team, you will work together
to make a real impact in global conservation on some of the most exciting conservation
challenges of our time. With an initial 6-month probationary contract, we hope to welcome the
successful candidate as a permanent, senior member of our Foundation.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy and Implementation:

  • Execute, monitor and refine our comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet the financial
    goals of the Saola Foundation.
  • Working closely with and coordinating with the CEO, Executive Assistant and Grant
    Assistants in the identification, cultivation and stewardship of donors.
  • Manage the annual fundraising calendar, including events, campaigns, and donor
    communications.
  • Explore and implement creative fundraising initiatives to engage new donor segments and
    retain the existing ones.
  • Work with the CEO to develop long-term strategies for sustainable growth and increased
    impact.

Grant Management:

  • Oversight of development team in identifying grant opportunities that align with the Saola
    Foundation’s mission and goals.
  • Oversight of development team in creation of compelling grant proposals and manage grant
    reporting requirements.
  • Maintain a portfolio of grant applications and manage deadlines effectively.

Communications and Outreach:

  • Curate and manage public relations efforts to enhance the Foundation’s visibility and
    reputation.
  • Oversight of the communications team in creating engaging content for fundraising
    campaigns, newsletters, social media, and other media.
  • Support communications team in website optimisation for fundraising and donor engagement.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit development, with a proven
    track record of successful fundraising.
  • Passion for wildlife conservation and the mission of the Saola Foundation.
  • Exceptional creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft
    compelling narratives.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles and best practices.
  • Strong social and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with
    our team and build and maintain relationships.
  • Experience in public relations and managing media.
  • Formal education in nonprofit management, communications, marketing or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Beneficial Qualifications

  • Familiarity with using the Conservation Measures Partnership’s Open Standards for the
    Practice of Conservation as an essential tool in shaping communications content.
  • Conservation experience specific to Southeast Asia.
