Help Shape the Future of a Growing Forest
Do you love turning data into insight? Are you passionate about mapping landscapes, revealing patterns, and creating evidence that drives real-world environmental change?
We are looking for an ambitious and talented Geospatial & Data Manager to lead our geospatial capability and become the trusted expert behind the maps, data and spatial intelligence that helps shape the future of our Forest. Reporting to the Director of Land Use Policy & Planning, this exciting role combines GIS expertise, data stewardship, analysis and innovation to support the Charity’s mission.
As our Geospatial & Data Manager, you will create and develop the Forest’s spatial datasets, produce compelling maps and visualisations, and deliver insightful analysis that supports woodland creation, habitat restoration, land management and long-term environmental planning.
You will work closely with colleagues across multiple teams, ensuring that spatial information is accessible, reliable and impactful. From grant applications and funding bids to regulatory reporting and strategic planning, your expertise will help us make informed decisions and demonstrate our impact.
The role also offers the opportunity to shape the future of our geospatial systems. You’ll explore emerging technologies, develop innovative approaches to field data collection, web mapping, dashboards, aerial imagery and remote sensing, and help ensure our tools and data infrastructure remain fit for the future.
We’re looking for someone with experience in GIS, geospatial analysis or spatial data management, who combines technical expertise with strong communication and collaboration skills. You will be comfortable managing complex datasets, producing professional cartographic outputs and translating data into meaningful insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with environmental, ecological, habitat or land-use datasets would be highly advantageous, as would knowledge of land ownership and tenure data and experience with QGIS.
This is an opportunity to use your skills for a purpose that matters. Your work will directly influence how landscapes are designed, restored and managed for future generations. You’ll join a collaborative and passionate team, enjoy hybrid working, and play a leading role in developing the evidence base that supports the growth of a thriving Forest.
If you’re excited by the prospect of combining technology, geography, data and environmental impact, we’d love to hear from you. Join us and help turn spatial information into lasting change.
