The One Health Data Alliance Africa project, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, promotes the use of technology and data to safeguard the health of humans, animals, and the environment across Africa. In collaboration with our partners- the African Union, Regional Economic Communities, Smart Africa, and various African countries, we promote innovative digital solutions for early warning, pandemic prevention and health promotion. The project promotes a data economy for health in Africa which fosters data exchange between countries and sectors, harmonization of standards and interoperability. The project connects professionals from human, animal, and environmental health with data and digitalization experts We are seeking a highly motivated Communication Intern with knowledge in political communication, digital health, data economy or technology to join our team in Eschborn. In this role, you will play an active part in advancing the digital transformation of health in Africa, gain hands-on experience in crafting impactful communication strategies while collaborating with a diverse team of professionals. Ihre Aufgaben
- Development and review of high-quality content, including presentations, articles, reports, visual content and social media content to communicate the project to different audiences including political partners in Germany and in partner countries
- Formulate complex technical concepts into simple, clear, practical and user-friendly language for diverse audience
- Support background research on specific themes including digital health, data economy, artificial intelligence, One Health, data standards
- Support the organization and execution of project events such as training programs, community of practice exchanges, conferences, summits, workshops, and webinars
- Support knowledge management within the project and across GIZ departments
- Support the development of a communication strategy
- Support the GIZ Sector Network Health and Social Protection, a network of all health and social protection projets in GIZ
Ihr Profil
- University studies in communications for development, digital communication and media innovation, digitalization and media technology, graphic design or comparable courses of study
- Interest or experience in development cooperation / international cooperation with a focus on digital health, data economy or technology
- Good knowledge in journalism, graphic design, international relations
- Experience in reporting and communicating technical content to different interest groups
- Good understanding of the social and political landscape in Africa
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office and Communication Channels, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator Strong creative skills combined with conceptual skills and attention to details (please add previous work samples)
- Very good communication and moderation skills
- C2 level in English and/or German, knowledge of French is an advantage
