Salary: UH6 £30,619 pa – £33,348 pa with potential to progress to £36,333 by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our offices between Christmas & New Year

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield, Hertfordshire

We are seeking to recruit two Governance Services Officers to provide professional administrative and organisational support to the Governance Services Department within the Office of the Vice Chancellor.

Main duties and responsibilities

The postholder will support the Head and Deputy Head of Governance Services in leading the Governance Services Team to support on all matters concerning the management, governance, and effective operation of services for the University’s Central Boards and Committees, including services to the Boards of Directors of the subsidiary companies within the University of Hertfordshire Group.

The successful candidate will offer an advisory service regarding the Department’s governance, regulations, policies and procedures, both internally and externally, to include academic and professional staff and members of the Board of Governors.

You will ensure the maintenance of all related governance documentation and records,  and promote good practice in all aspects of committee work across the institution.

In this role you must maintain a clear understanding of the whole spectrum of the work of the University and its wholly owned subsidiary companies, including funding, learning and teaching, research, staffing, and administration.

Skills and experience needed

Building and maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues and contacts both within and outside the University is key, so you will demonstrate proven prior experience in this. You will have experience in managing a range of demands, possess good IT skills, particularly in the use of Excel, and have effective written, numeracy and oral communication skills. You will be results-driven and able to work effectively and flexibly on your own initiative and under pressure with a positive can-do attitude.

Substantial proven administrative experience is essential, preferably within a Higher Education Institution. Candidates with previous experience clerking committees will be at an advantage.

Qualifications required

Degree (or equivalent qualification), or higher qualification or significant appropriate equivalent experience.
