Graduate Humanities Academic MentorSecondary School – Wandsworth, South LondonAre you a recent graduate with a humanities related degree looking to utilise your qualification in an educational setting?Maybe you are keen to enter a profession in education but want to ensure it is right for you before committing to teacher training?Have you considered gaining experience in a supportive school environment where you can learn relevant pedagogy and use the teachings of your degree?This secondary school is looking for a gifted Humanities-based Graduate to join their team in September 2024 to support their students as a Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor.Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor – Person Specification

  • Geography, History, Philosophy, Politics, Law, Theology, Religion and Sociology degrees.
  • Must be a graduate – 1st/2:1 degrees preferred
  • Previous experience welcomed but not essential

Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor – Job Specification

  • As Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor – Earn £500-£540 per week
  • Support your Humanities specialism across KS3, KS4 and KS5
  • ‘Ofsted Outstanding’ graded Secondary School
  • Bespoke development scheme to build your knowledge in the educational setting
  • Full-time, long-term position
  • Monday to Friday 8:30am 3:30pm
  • Potential paid teacher training – September 2025
  • Wandsworth, South London – Accessible transport routes

As a Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor, you will encourage productive learning by building strong relationships with your students and using the expertise of your degree.Your responsibilities as a Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor will include general classroom support alongside a dedicated teacher, leading 1-1 and group sessions, as well as general pastoral support. You will aid students from Year 7 through to Year 11, helping them achieve subject excellence.Your role as a Graduate Humanities Academic Mentor will exceed just academic support. You will use your passion for your chosen subject to inspire the students to become future Humanities graduates themselves, as the school attempts to push their students to strive for excellence in their future.In the long-term, this school is looking to develop keen future teachers.
