Faculty of Health and Life SciencesThe above full-time (1.0 FTE) post is available from the 1st of December 2024 until the 31st of August 2025 on a fixed-term basis, within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.The postThe Faculty wishes to recruit a Graduate Research Assistant to support the work of Professor Austin Smith. This European Research Council funded post is available from 1 December 2024. The successful applicant will support a programme of cellular and molecular research in pluripotent stem cell biology based in the interdisciplinary Living Systems Institute.The post will include stem cell culture and genetic modification, molecular biology, flow cytometry, immunostaining, and immunoblotting.About youThe successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to culture mammalian stem cells, perform cell culture experiments and analyses such as gene expression measurements and flow cytometry, record and present experimental data clearly and accurately, interpret results and design experiments.Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role.What we can offer you
